First event in the books

Wow, I did not realize how physically and emotionally drained I would be after we were done. Three days later and I still am shaking off the cobwebs. What a blur Saturday’s event was. We had a great turnout despite cold and rainy weather, and the day was a success because of the work of a lot of friends, thank you very much!!!!!! We decided Saturday morning to move the entertainment, children’s games and auction into the gym due to the impending forecast of rain. Sure enough we got rained on right at 9am. WhatEver4 entertained people at the registration area while Jay Mathey sang in the gym. It seemed like the kids enjoyed the children’s activities and we were surprised by the Odell Volunteer Fire Dept showing up with their truck. I would be remiss if I failed to mention Steve Bunn taking pies in the face for three hours. When the weather nixed the dunk tank he stepped up and raised over $85.00 by letting everyone have a crack at him with whipped cream. Noteability was a big hit and Jessica and Jay’s duet made us cry, thank you both for a very special moment. We had a short program and several friends have mentioned what a great job the boys did with the prayer. Then we got down to the big raffles along with the auction being complete.

Alright are you ready for the totals? So far we have raised over $10,000 for the BDSRA and we expect matching gifts, merchandise sales and other contributions to come in for several weeks.

I am married to Wendy and dad to two boys Brandon and Jeremy with Juvenile Batten Disease, a fatal neurodegenerative childhood disorder. I am also active with the Batten Disease Support and Research Association.
