Thank you to Make a Wish Foundation

Emily Riley and Lauren Barker with the Charlotte office of Make a Wish Foundation have been fantastic!!!!!! We are almost back to normal after our trip, Cubby still is a little ticked, but getting over it. Let me tell you about the trip. We hit Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Epcot, Disney/MGM Studios, Typhoon Lagoon, Sea World, Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure and last but not least Sea World. We also had a great time at the Nick Hotel where we stayed in a SpongeBob suite and had breakfast with the Nick characters one morning. The weather was very warm with the typical Florida afternoon storms that popped up, however we managed to always be indoors when it rained. We got a wheelchair at all the parks which worked out great, the experience with one at the Detroit Zoo came in handy. Oddly enough one of the highlights of the trip was one of the Disney employees that we met. At Epcot we met Todd at one of the character meet and greets. Todd is a little person and Brandon was fascinated, he couldn’t get the concept that the person he was talking to was a grown man but was only as tall as Jeremy. It was a special moment that I think we all will remember. One of my personal favorites is the Festival of the Lion King at Animal Kingdom, a must see if you are in that park. Jeremy will say that meeting the Power Rangers was his highlight, but for Brandon it was Discovery Cove and swimming with the dolphin that was his favorite.

I am married to Wendy and dad to two boys Brandon and Jeremy with Juvenile Batten Disease, a fatal neurodegenerative childhood disorder. I am also active with the Batten Disease Support and Research Association.
