Take the Good with the BAD

We had an up and down weekend, it started on the down side. Friday morning Jeremy had his first documented seizure and we believe another Friday night while he slept. So we have started him on meds to control them. However, we had been invited by the Make a Wish foundation to participate in the opening ceremonies of the Great American Race in Concord. http://greatrace.com/greatrace/gr2007usa/index.php This event is very unique, it is a road rally with classic cars which left Concord on Saturday and finishes up two weeks from now in Anaheim, CA. The Make a Wish Foundation has become the official charity of the Great Race. We were introduced during the opening ceremonies as a local family who the foundation has helped. We also had the fortune of running into Gloria, who used to be the director of the Make a Wish Foundation locally and is now affiliated with another great cause, the Susan Komen Race for the Cure in Charlotte. She saw Brandon and Jeremy wearing their Make a Wish Tshirts and introduced herself. The “WISHVETT” is her husband’s car and they were kind enough to let the boys get in and take pictures. It is amazing how many wonderful people we have met over the last few months. We capped off the day with a trip to Cabarrus Creamery in downtown Concord and Brandon got his crack at changing a tire on a mock Richard Petty Racing experience car. Here’s hoping you are having a great summer, please drop us a line, we would love to hear from you!!!!!

Oh, I almost forgot the funny part, I forgot to put sunscreen on my newly cut hair and got a sunburn on my noggin, OUCH!!!!!

I am married to Wendy and dad to two boys Brandon and Jeremy with Juvenile Batten Disease, a fatal neurodegenerative childhood disorder. I am also active with the Batten Disease Support and Research Association.
