Ready, Set, Hike

For my Facebook friends this will be a repeat, but I just had to share with you the great time we had as a family yesterday.  We were made aware of this event through Terri Bunn, the boys Visually Impaired teacher.  We were a little hesitant about doing football with the boys but we figured, what the heck.   We were one of the first families to arrive at the UNCC recreational field and check in, the boys got personalized jerseys.  Brandon picked the number 1 and Jeremy wanted number 17.  We were introduced to Coach Jake and Coach Justine who would be working with the boys and they made their way down to the activities area.  They had fun activities set up by stations, any thing from catapault slingshots, obstacle course, cornhole and even a Randy Moss cutout to throw the football into.  They got to play for quite awhile, Brandon even had to take a break in the middle of the field as he was getting tired.  Then they gathered all the kids to line up for the national anthem.  They brought out a fierce looking defense and introduced each of the kids to try and score a touchdown.  Amazingly(wink, wink, wink) all 27 kids scored a touchdown on their turn, I guess it just wasn’t the defense’s day.

Thank you to the UNCC staff members that made a special day for our boys!
